The IRFZ44N (Z44) MOSFET is a highly powerful and popular “N-Channel Power MOSFET.” Its main strength is its ability to switch very high currents (up to 49A) at relatively low voltages.
Here are the primary applications and uses of the Z44 MOSFET:
1. Motor Control
This is its most common use. It is used to control the speed and direction of DC motors.
DC Motor Speed Control: Using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) to increase or decrease motor speed in robotics or toys.
BLDC Motor Drivers: Driving brushless motors used in drones or electric cycles.
2. Inverter Circuits
The Z44 is widely used in making small home inverters.

- While the Z44 MOSFET starts to turn on at 4V, it is best to provide 10V to the Gate to bring it into full “Saturation.” This prevents the MOSFET from overheating. If you are driving it with an Arduino or ESP32 (3.3V/5V), it is highly recommended to use a Gate Driver or a small Transistor in between
