Genus Proton 900VA control card (especially a refurbished one), “shorting” issues typically manifest as a constant Overload warning, a “Dead” unit, or the immediate blowing of the DC fuse upon connection.

​Since refurbished cards can sometimes have weak solder joints or mismatched components, troubleshooting requires a systematic approach.

​1. Common Short Locations

• ​MOSFETs: This is the most common failure point. If even one MOSFET in the H-bridge is shorted, the control card will detect a massive current draw and shut down (Overload).
• ​Driver IC (MC33883): The Genus Proton often uses a driver card/IC to trigger the MOSFETs. If this IC is shorted, it can send a constant signal to the gates, causing a “shoot-through” short circuit.
• ​SMD Capacitors: Small ceramic capacitors near the microcontroller or driver circuit can fail and create a direct path to ground.
